Green-guy Leonardo DiCaprio is set to receive the first ever Big Green Help Award at the Kids' Choice Awards on March 28th. DiCaprio has long been outspoken on all things green and lately has been receiving some recognition of his efforts.

Nickelodeon is scheduled to honor actor, and environmental activist DiCaprio, with the Big Green Help Award at the 22nd Annual Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday, March 28. The annual awards honor kids' favorite American celebs from the world of film, music, sports and television.

Nickelodeon, with their enormous young American audience, has the potentially to be extremely impactful on encouraging young people to support environmental initiatives.

The Big Green Help Award will be presented to DiCaprio by longtime friend and fellow eco-activist Cameron Diaz. The award is also part of Nickelodeon's Big Green Help Campaign, a global project designed to empower kids to take action on the environment and connect them to energy saving and earth-friendly activities in their everyday lives.

Unfortunately, the Kids’ Choice Awards takes place during global Earth Hour from 8:30 to 9:30 pm, which is perhaps why Nickelodeon has instead opted to "Power Down for 60-seconds on Earth Day (April 22nd, 9pm) celebrating the nearly two million kid-pledges to-date, and symbolizing kids' commitments to be more environmentally conscious”.
